Mount Laurel Municipal Alliance

Against Substance Abuse - MLMA

The MLMA was established on May 6, 1991 in compliance with the governor’s “Blueprint for a Drug Free NJ”. The mission of the  Alliance is to make available quality substance prevention programs and sponsor activities designed to educate the community  in an effort to reduce the illegal use of alcohol and other drugs.

The MLMA is funded by a federal grant from the Drug Enforcement Demand Reduction fund. These are fines levied on convicted drug users and sellers which in turn wind up back in the community helping to solve the problems they helped create. Now that's the way smart government ought to be run!

This spring Mount Laurel was seeing RED!

Citizens Action Committee - CAC

The Citizens Action Committee was initially formed in May, 2006 in response to the proposed  reconfiguration of grades  5 through 8.

A core group of community members with expertise in law, elementary and higher education, NJ State Department of Education guidelines, media relations, healthcare, and the nonprofit sector, stepped up and assisted me in launching a coordinated effort to engage the community in the process. This was effectively done through letters to the editor, lawn signs, fliers and a viral email campaign.

As a result of the CAC involvement, the group has forged a positive partnership with our school district in seeking the best possible educational opportunities for our children. Our goal is to continue to assist in the dissemination of information.

Just wanted to let you know…

Mount Laurel Boys & Girls Lacrosse

The Mount Laurel Lacrosse program was started in 2004 by Mount Laurel resident Eric Endlein and myself. After numerous requests to the township to start a program, I met up with Eric and we decided to develop a program. Our first team consisted of 14 players. Since then we have grown to encompass boys teams 3rd-9th grade and girls teams 3rd - 7th. Our first players have entered Lenape in 2006 as JV players. Their record last year was 19-0!

Mount Laurel Lacrosse is proud to have received  501c3, non-profit status.

Mount Laurel Public Education Fund

The Mount Laurel Public Education Fund, Inc. is an independent, non-profit corporation formed in 1994. The fund is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees comprised of community members who donate their time, expertise and resources to broaden support for quality education in the Mount Laurel Public Schools. I was asked to serve on the Board of Trustees and have done so since 2005.

Each year a golf tournament is held at Ramblewood Country Club. The proceeds of this tournament, and proceeds of over $500,000 raised in the past, enable our schools to maintain superior learning opportunities through the use of technology and to provide tutoring services for families in financial need.
